It's Ann 🤘🏻

I'm a multimedia designer navigating the vast and often baffling world of interaction design, UX/UI, graphic and content strategy. Toronto is where I call home these days, but my roots stretch back to the vibrant streets of Saigon.

02

Philosophy 101 🎨

My approach to design is like my approach to life:

Impact, but simplicity.

When finding our most impactful work, we might leave the simplicity behind because of the fear that simplicity clouds us and overshadows our design. There needs to be an understanding that sometimes, achieving more can be done by doing less.

Consistently yet disruptively.

Without coming to this understanding, we lose the pursuit of our authentic selves in our design.

Rationality and emotions,

not or, not one over the other.

03

The Heart of the Matter 🔥

At the end of the day, it's not about the buzzwords or the flashy titles; it's about the work, the grind, the moments of pure joy when everything just clicks. Each project is a chapter of my journey, a testament to the trials, triumphs, and the endless pursuit of creativity.

In the game of campaigns and visuals, I'm all in – whether steering the ship as a visual director, brainstorming as a creative planner, or keeping the wheels turning as a project manager. Each role is a piece of the puzzle, a step on the path to creating work that resonates, engages, and, hopefully, inspires.

Thanks for stopping by.

If my ramblings strike a chord, or if you’re curious to see where this journey takes me, stick around. There's always more to explore, more stories to tell, and countless designs waiting to come to life.

Let’s keep the conversation going. 🌱

Milestones and Monsters 👾

2017,

I jumped into this (crazy) creative industry at 19, juggling college textbooks on marketing with real-world deadlines. It was more than a job; it was where I discovered that weaving stories and strategies wasn’t just something I did— it was a part of who I am. Fast forward through five intense years in Vietnam's creative circles, and you'll find me neck-deep in strategies, campaigns, and the occasional existential crisis about whether my content was hitting the mark.

2022,

Feeling the itch for a change and a challenge, I packed up my life and traded the familiar streets of Saigon for Toronto's snowy landscapes. Currently, I'm in the thick of a 2-year Multimedia Design & Development program at Humber College, diving headfirst into the world of Interaction Design & UI/UX Design. Oh, and somehow, amidst the caffeine overdoses and late-night project sessions, I've managed to snag a GPA of 91.8.

My approach to design is like my approach to life: keep it real, make it impactful, but keep it simple. There's a beauty in simplicity that often gets overlooked in the race to be noticed. I strive for that sweet spot where my designs can whisper yet still be heard over the noise.

Staying true while stirring the pot is kinda my thing. It’s about carving out your niche in this ever-expanding digital canvas without losing sight of your authentic self. And when it comes to mixing rationality with emotion, why choose? They’re two sides of the same coin, adding depth and relatability to my designs.

“All grown-ups were once children... but only few of them remember it.”

As a child, I was enchanted by the simple joy of drawing, letting colors dance whimsically across the page. Most children embrace this creative spirit, and I was no exception.

Growing up, facing harsh words and tough moments early on, I felt like I lost some colors and grew an off-hue skin to get used to adapting a resilience that wasn't there before. These tough times, as hard as they were, taught me how to weave through the complexities of life.

It's been a mix of ups and downs, more so during the pandemic when the world slowed down, and so did my thoughts, leading me to question where I was heading. During this quiet reflection, I had an epiphany - I feel most alive when I'm creating and when the work I do lights up my eyes with pure joy. So, I took the plunge into the design world, dedicating myself to the passion that sings to my soul.

The belief that 'It's never too late to become who you might have been' guides me, reminding me that change and growth are always within reach. I'm glad I kept moving forward, falling, and moving forward so I could always learn something from life.
