【The Original Site's Issues】

Humber Current's original website was like an old pastry shop that's seen better days: full of potential but hard to navigate, with its best offerings hidden away. Users, especially those from the creative arts and media fields, found it tough to search for projects that sparked their inspiration or matched their style. Uploading their masterpieces felt like sending them into the void, with little visibility or feedback. Meanwhile, industry recruiters were on a wild goose chase, trying to find talents that fit their taste without getting lost in the maze.

【Main Goal】

The project aimed to transform this outdated site into a bustling digital café hub – a place where Humber's creative minds could easily showcase their work, find inspiration, and connect with potential employers or partners.

【The Challenge】

I was up against a pretty sketchy recipe: a cluttered interface, inconsistent visuals, sluggish performance, and a dash of accessibility issues. The mission was to whip up a site that was not only easy on the eyes but also a breeze to navigate, all while keeping the essence of Humber's vibrant creative community.

【The Work】

Kicking off with a design that reflects Humber's brand essence, I opted for a bright, dynamic color palette to infuse the site with youthful vibrancy and creativity. The new search function became the star of the show, making it easy for users to find exactly what they're looking for – be it a dazzling portfolio or a budding talent in UI/UX design. I streamlined the visuals for consistency, jazzed up the performance, and made the whole thing WCAG-compliant for better accessibility. All this was done with an eye on the clock and the budget, making sure everything was set before the new academic year.

【Outcome】

The redesigned Humber Current web app is now the go-to spot for Humber's creative souls to meet, showcase, and discover. It's a place where inspiration flows freely, talents are easily spotted, and every visit feels like a breath of fresh air. Just like a well-loved patisserie, it's become a community favorite, serving up delightful experiences with every click.
